Certificate in Asbestos Inspection Procedures
5 Day Programme
Safety Advisory Services Ltd has added to its list of accredited Health and Safety programmes.
With accreditation from the Royal Society for the Promotion of Health, the company can now deliver the Level 3 Certificate in Asbestos Inspection Procedures.
Earlier in the year, Bill McDonald of the HSE announced that the HSE was considering making UKAS Certification mandatory for asbestos inspectors. This will mean that in order to be licensed, asbestos surveyors/inspectors will be required to have undergone and passed a UKAS accredited competent persons scheme.
RICS and ARCA have developed this new scheme, which will be accredited by UKAS. Entry onto the scheme will be restricted to candidates who have obtained the RSPH Certificate in Asbestos Inspection Procedures qualification following a 35 hour course of study at an accredited centre.
The qualification is divided into two units (Asbestos in Buildings/ Inspection Procedures for Asbestos.
Unit 1 of the programme covers properties, uses and risk to health from asbestos, factors affecting the presence and likelihood of spread of asbestos in a building, management of risk and legislation.
Unit 2 covers processes and procedures (types of survey), exposure to asbestos and guidelines on inspection reports.
Candidates will need to successfully complete a multiple choice examination for Unit 1 and 10 short answer questions for Unit 2.
Safety Advisory Services Ltd operates throughout the country and overseas offering asbestos risk management services in Surveying and Sampling. The company is also licensed by the HSE to act in a supervisory capacity for asbestos removal projects. It is recognised for its excellence in the field of asbestos risk management and training.
